The 5 Favorite Star Wars Droids in a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Whether you have seen every Star Wars movie, or don’t know who Luke’s father is, you definitely have noticed the hype surrounding Star Wars, especially now that the new franchise has begun. If you’re a fan (and we know you are), you undoubtedly have a favorite Star Wars droid. Users voted on Taste, and here’s who took that top robot spot.

1. R2-D2
A classic from the original Star wars saga. R2-D2 first stole the hearts of millions in 1977 with the release of A New Hope (originally just named Star Wars). Today, R2-D2 has made (at least) a cameo in every Star Wars movie including Rogue One. The late actor Kenny Baker is well remembered for his operation of the original R2-D2 robot.

2. BB-8
This cute little droid made it’s first appearance in the Force Awakens. Similar to the R2 series droid, BB-8 is an astromech droid. “Spherical with a free-moving domed head, BB-8 is portrayed by both a rod puppet and a remote-controlled robotic unit.”

3. K-2SO
“KX-series security droid originally created for use in the Galactic Empire’s armed forces. K-2SO is voiced and portrayed in motion capture by Alan Tudyk in the Star Wars stand-alone film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.” This honest and humorous droid made us laugh through the entire movie. He will be remembered for his classic line to Jyn Erso: Jyn, I’ll be there for you. Cassian said I had to.

4. BB-9E

This First Order atromech droid was directly responsible for the capture of Finn and Rose in the Last Jedi. Seen as the anti-BB-8, this droid only further shows the similarities between the ships, crafts, and droid that both the First Order and the Resistance use, as referenced on Canto Bight.

5. C-3PO

Anthony Daniels, the actor that plays C-3PO, is the only actor to have been in every Star Wars movie so far. This Human-Cyborg Relations droid, built by Anakin Skywalker, has been a consistent character through-out the saga. Whether remembered for his nervous jabbering or for his knack for getting into trouble with R2-D2, C-3PO is a classic representation of the original Star Wars we all know and love.
